Happy New Years!

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Today it is January 1st, the year 2014 lies behind us now.
What I want to do firstly is to wish you a happy new years and I hope that you have had only good things happen to you in 2015 so far. I hope you achieved the goals you set for yourself in the previous year and have great plans for the coming year. Insha'Allah the next year will be a good one.

We can't change a thing we did in 2014, just as we can't change something we did this morning. The only thing we can do is try to do it better this year. Try to have more good days this year, to make great memories for the days still to come and to be a better person in general. The thing that will help me achieve these things is islam.

For 2015 I want to reach certain goals that I set in the previous weeks, most are a reminder to strive for good in life. Even though 2014 was a better year for me than those before, insha'Allah I can still do better.

Take care of myself
Ever since moving out of my parental home I have forgotten to take good care of myself. There are days that I forget to eat, times that I drink only one glass a day, forgetting to do important stuff. Insha'Allah I will remember to do these things more often in the following year. It's not healthy to forget you haven't eaten a thing all day, and it's not healthy skipping breakfast either.

Take care of others
Before I converted to Islam, I really didn't think much about taking care of others. I had enough problems of my own and I forgot about the fact that others might have some problems too. I have been better about this, and I have actually made some great progress especially in the last year, but I still want to do better. I want people to have a good life and if I am able to help with small problems, I would love to help people with them.

Continue learning about Islam
Now this is a goal that is very important to me. Since I'm still fairly new to Islam, I have so many things yet to learn. I want to know everything there is to know, I want to learn about Islam, I want to learn to read in Arabic so I can read the Quran in Arabic, I want to be able to answer all questions that people ask me about Islam. Learning about Islam makes me feel happy, I forget about my own problems because they no longer seem important. I recommend everyone of doing the same, learn about something you love and I guarantee you will feel happier yourself.

Smile
Lastly, I want to smile more. If at all possible, I want to change my neutral facial expression into a smile. A smile can make anyone's day, including my own. I feel so happy when I smile at other people, so I don't even know why I haven't done this sooner. You should try it too one day, even if it is only for a day, because it feels amazing.

May peace, mercy and blessings from Allah be upon you
