بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Today is the start of a new week yet again.
Insha'Allah you will have a great day and a great week too. For me personally this week will be quite difficult, since it's the week that most people will celebrate Christmas. Now as a Muslim, most likely you don't celebrate Christmas and don't even have to think about it.
For me though, as a convert, it's not that easy. If it was just me, I wouldn't think about it and just go on as I would any other week. But it isn't just me, because my family is Christian and celebrates Christmas and wants be to be there too. I don't know if you ever tried to say no to your mother, but just saying, it is extremely difficult.
I was really conflicted when I had to make this choice, since I know Islam tells us Muslims not to celebrate Christmas, but Islam also tells us to treat your parents well and to respect them.
After thinking about it, and also knowing I couldn't say no, I decided it wouldn't be too bad if I went there to be with my family.
So yeah, since I couldn't say no, I said yes. Not only did I say yes, but in fact I am going to prepare and cook dinner for my family since my mother is not able to do so.
In no way will I celebrate the birth of Jesus (as) or partake in any heathen traditions, I will simply be there for my family (my mother in particular) and try to be a good daughter.
I'm curious to know, if you was ever in a situation like this, how did you solve it?
May peace, mercy and blessings from Allah be upon you
